The actual painting is a bit softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel consists of one oval shaped plank and is slightly bevelled along the edges. There are some very tiny paint losses along the edge, upper right, due to the frame. There is a tendency towards cupping and some flaking in the lower centre. The paint surface is under a thick layer of varnish as well as under a fine layer of dirt. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals no further retouchings. Offered in a decorative carved wood frame with several paint losses. (MW)
