Condition

The illustration is representative of the actual painting, although the painting has less contrast in the black hues. The canvas is relined. The paint surface is flattened and suffered from dryness, which probably caused a distinct craquelure pattern, e.g. in the face and in the dark tones. Inspection under UV-light is impeded by the dirty and discoloured varnish layer, however, scattered retouchings in the face become apparent. Offered in a gilt wood frame, with a few chips along the bottom edge.(JD)
