The actual painting is darker and has less contrast than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is relined. Due to the relining the paint surface has been flattened and suffered from dryness. There is a slight tendency towards cupping throughout. Two paint losses are visible in the upper and lower left corner. Minor spots of paint loss are visible along the upper edge. The paint surface is covered under a very dirty varnish layer. Inspection under UV-light reveals retouchings throughout. The varnish seems to be unevely cleaned. Offered in a plain, modern gilt wood frame, in fair condition. (JD)
