Description
- Gaspar Peeter Verbruggen the Younger
- a still life with tulips, roses, a hyacinth, daffodils and other flowers in a classical vase
oil on canvas
- 97.4 by 69.2 cm.
Condition
The illustration in the catalogue is representative of the actual painting. The canvas has been relined. The paint surface has grown dry and very thin, especially in the darker tones and to the background. There is a tendency towards cupping. Some old retouchings and strengthenings can be seen throughout, e.g. in the bottom of the vase and to the left centre. The paint surface is under a very dirty varnish layer. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals the above, as well as small additional retouchings in the flowers. Offered in a black and gold painted frame in cabinet style, in good condition (MW).
