Condition

The actual painting is warmer in tone than the illustration in the catalogue suggests. The panel is sound. It consists of one plank and is bevelled on all sides. There is minor frame abrasion to the upper and left edge. Some thinnes can be observed, mainly in the sky and in the darker parts. Inspection under ultra violet light is partly obscured by the discoloured varnish layer, but there are probably some old retouchings in places underneath the varnish layer. There is some surface dirt. Otherwise, the painting seems to be in good condition. Offered in a decorative gold painted wooden frame with a few chips. (MW)
