Description
- height 105cm., width 78cm., depth 41cm.
of coromandel, finely inlaid in lead forming interlacing strapwork enriched with tortoiseshell and hardstone panels including agate and lapis lazuli, further inlaid with reliefs carved of ivory, the central plaque carved with the Venus Marina, a smaller plaque above carved with children harvesting and drinking wine, the canted corners set with tapering columns of Verde Antico marble, the single door front concealing a central well above three drawers
Condition
The colours of the printed catalogue illustration are slightly too bright. Minor loss of inlay and moulding, some damage from worming to the banister, soiled. Overall there are traces of woodworm. There are three vertical shrinkage cracks to the door. The central ivory plaque with hairline cracks.
