The actual painting is a bit more dull of colour than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has a stable relining. There are some minor scratches and one tiny spot of paint loss to the upper edge. The paint surface is fairly flattened, due to the relining. It has grown dry, which has resulted in a tendency towards cupping,and there's minor flaking in places. The paint surface is under a yellowed layer of varnish as well as under a fine layer of dirt. Inspection under ultra violet light is impeded by the thick varnish layer, but there are possibly some old retouchings underneath, e.g. in the tree area lower left. Offered in a decorative gilt wood frame in fair condition. (MW)
