Condition
Campbell's Soup I - The prints are in good condition as catalogued. The reds are of varying intensity and all sheets have remains of archival linen hinges on the sheet edges verso.
Pepper Pot: Color slightly down. Stray black ink is visible at the extreme lower left sheet corner. The hinge at center of left sheet edge is pressing through slightly and there are a few soft vertical creases at the lower right sheet edge.
Black Bean - In good condition.
Chicken Noodle - The red is a touch faded. There are a few very soft, very slight handling creases in the upper sheet. Remaining hinges are very slightly pressing through.
Onion - The color is a touch faded. There are two short flattened creases (each less than ¼ inch) in the unprinted area of the can to the right of "stock" and in the silver top of can at center.
Beef - Slightly more faded than the rest. There are two creases at upper left sheet edge measuring c. 1 - 1 ¼ inch, one with a small associated nick, and one with an associated short tear (c. 5 mm). Additional crease with short nick visible in left sheet edge at bottom. The hinge at bottom right is slightly pressing through and there are very minor instances of surface soiling in the margins. There is an inconspicuous vertical scratch in the red field at right which likely occurred during the printing process.
Consomme - Red only a slight touch down. There are two vertical creases at the extreme left sheet edge at top and bottom. Occasional very soft, short handling creases are visible only in raking light.
Cream of Mushroom - Red is strong, with a few very inconspicuous scratches. There are fingers of damp stain with associated rolling creases along the lower sheet edge, the longest extending just up to but not touching the bottom of the can.
Green Pea - The red is slightly faded. Remains of stray silver ink are visible at the lower sheet edge, with remains of black ink on the verso above the numbering and signature. There is an X-shaped scratch in the top of the can at center, with a central pressure mark which does not fully penetrate the paper. This is likely the result of broken glass from a previous frame. The three longest arms of the X measure c. 3 inches each, extending to the left, right and towards the upper sheet edge.
Tomato - The red is bright. There is a 3 inch horizontal scratch above the "b" in Campbell's, with a shorter vertical scratch to its left. There is a c. 3 inch vertical crease at the extreme right sheet edge at center.
Vegetable - The red is strong. There are three short flattened handling (semi-circular) creases to the right of "beef stock". The hinges at lower and left sheet corners are slightly pressing through.
