Description

  • Joan Miró
  • Les Grandes Manoeuvres (D. 575)
  • sheet 1380 by 600 mm 54 1/4 by 23 5/8 in
Etching and aquatint with carborundum printed in colors, 1973, signed in pencil and numbered 23/50, on Arches wove paper, published by Maeght, Paris, the full sheet, printed to the edges, in good condition apart from a few occasional fox marks, soft rolling creases at top and bottom, the sheet corners verso with slight skinning, pale light-stain

Condition

The print is in good condition as catalogued. Fox marks are pale and scattered throughout, visible on both verso and recto. The print has been previously rolled and consequently soft creases appear mostly in the upper and lower ends of the sheet. Light-stain has slightly darkened the paper tone throughout, however previous hinges at top verso have maintained two light rectangular areas. The removal of these hinges at top and bottom has caused slightly skinned areas on the verso.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
