A set of vintage Polaroids (14 in black and white and 1 in colour) made in connection with a shoot for Stern magazine published in 1978. Divided into several variants on each of 5 series, with a separate Polaroid signed by Newton and dedicated in Sütterlin script to 'Eine Kreative Redaktorin'.
Provenance
The gift of the photographer to the present owner.
Condition
Some emulsion staining at top and bottom of the prints, consistent with the process. Some finger prints visible on print surfaces also. Otherwise prints are in generally good condition.

These images show the surefootedness of Newton's imagination. Even in photographic sketches like these, his absolute confidence in his ability to make the real world become a Newton-world shines through. It is also remarkable to find the themes that Newton made so certainly his own already fully visible at this date.
