Catalogue Note

Paul Outerbridge's career as a commercial photographer began in 1922.  He quickly became very successful, working with Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar.  As Outerbridge printed his photographs, particularly those in platinum, in limited quantities, it is typical to find even his best-known images represented by only a very small number of prints.   Aside from the print of Collar, Tie, and Pin offered here, no other print of the image has appeared at auction.
