Catalogue Note
'Clouds Near Mono Lake' was included in the annual San Francisco Society of Women Artists exhibition in 1940. The SFWA began in the 1880s as the Sketch Club, a group of women artists who met to view and critique each other's work. The name was changed in 1925 and became the non-profit organization that continues today. The annual SFWA exhibitions continued into the 1980s.
According to Alma Lavenson authority Susan Ehrens, the print offered here is believed to be the only early print of this image extant.
