Catalogue Note
The oversized daguerreotype offered here, from Fuss's My Ghost series, shows the text of a poem by Arseny Tarkovsky, translated to English. Tarkovsky's poetry was a point of fascination for Fuss, who was also interested in the work of Tarkovsky's son, the famous Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. Themes present in the Tarkovskys' work, including memories of childhood, dreams, fire and water, and reflections, are seen throughout the My Ghost series, as well as in many of Fuss's other works.
