Catalogue Note

Linnaeus Tripe produced four albums entitled Photographic Views in Madura, each sequentially titled Part I through Part IV.  The print offered here comes from Photographic Views in Madura Part II.  According to Tripe scholar Janet Dewan, 11 surviving intact copies of this album are in institutional collections.  Intact volumes of Part II have only appeared at auction twice, and were subsequently disbound and dispersed.
