Catalogue Note

Voyage en Orient was published by De Clercq upon his return from travels to Syria and Asia Minor with the historian Emmanuel-Guillaume Rey.  The 222 photographs that comprise the complete set cover Jerusalem, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt.  Although De Clercq records that he produced 50 copies of the complete Voyage en Orient, only 6 sets have been located in institutional collections.
