Description

  • Arthur Siegel
  • photogram (bars and shadows)
oversized photogram, a unique object, signed and dated by the photographer in pencil on the image, mounted to thick board, matted, framed, 1948

Provenance

Christie's New York, 5 October 1999, Sale 9298, Lot 336

Acquired by Nancy Richardson from the above

Condition

This handsome, large photogram is on paper with a slightly glossy finish and a faint cream tonality to the highlights. Aside from a few insignificant issues, the print is in excellent condition. There is some wear on the print's corners, as well as a crease that has broken the emulsion in the lower left corner. This appears to have been retouched. There are two unobtrusive half-inch vertical creases on the left portion of the top edge. There is some very minor craquelure to the print's surface in the upper right corner. None of these issues is immediately apparent, and they do not undermine the impressive appearance of this large unique image.
