Condition
The canvas has been lined. There are some smal flecks of paint loss towards the lower and upper edges. There is some frame abrasion to the extreme edges. There is craquelure and stretcher marks to the paint surface. On close inspection there are a few very minor blemishes to the surface which could be due to old restoration. Otherwise in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious retouching although a heavy varnish prevents further inspection. Held in a highly decorative gold painted frame with losses to a number of sections.
