Description

  • Cornelis Droochsloot
  • A village scene with travellers on a path, peasants sitting at a table to the right
  • traces of a signature l.l.
  • oil on panel

Condition

The panel is sound. There is an old spot of paint loss just below the central section. There are minor marks to the surface, particularly in the sky with heavily ingrained surface dirt throughout. There is minor frame abrasion to the extreme right edge. Ultraviolet light reveals minor retouchings throughout the sky and further minor restoration to a small surface crack in the lower right corner. A heavy varnish prevents a more conclusive inspection. Held in a decorative frame in fair condition.
