Catalogue Note
Although always published as an autograph drawing by Rembrandt, this is close in style to various sheets now thought to be by Flinck, including drawings in London, Rotterdam, Haarlem and Chicago (see Benesch, op.cit., cat. nos. 70, 78-80). Another version of the composition, in reverse to this, was formerly in the Koenigs Collection (Benesch 61).
