Condition

Original canvas (english). On the reverse there is an old label 'the march of civilisation paintings by davison kno...." Few repaints scattered on the surface in the sky especially near the arm and the hair.

On connaît mal l'activité de Knowles comme peintre de sujets orientalistes. Un portrait de soldat arabe était inclus dans la vente The forbes Magazine collection of Orientalist paintings, drawings etc... New York le 14 octobre 1993, et un portrait de Sheikh du Soudan s'est vendu chez Sotheby's Olympia le 29 janvier 2003.
