Condition
The canvas has been relined and holds well. The paint surface, which is under a discoloured varnish, appears sound with some very fine craquelure. Some discoloured retouchings are visible on the face of the sitter, though less so in the background, apart from a 4 cm area of restoration to the right of the sitter. Inspection under UV light reveals some further scattered retouchings. Offered in a carved wood frame in reasonable condition.
