  • branded on the reverse with the Antwerp panel maker's mark of Michael Claessens (active 1590-1637).

Condition

The single panel is stable, with a very slight convex bow. The paint surface is largely secure although there is a very thin horizontal crack lower right of aprox 6 cm. which has been retouched. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouchings throughout, notably to the sky and darker areas of the foreground. Offered in a later wooden frame in fair condition.
