Condition

The catalogue illustration is a little too green. There is a fairly recent reling, which is sound, and the paint surface is in fairly good condition overall. There are however some small restored damages throughout and some wear or thinness to some of the darks. There is a small restored tear on the dog lower left; there is a series of restored tears around the margin at the upper right and there is a group of small resotred damages to the central portion of the sky. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some strengthening to the foreground, minor retouchings to the figure group, and further minor retouchings throughout. This painting is in fairly good condition but would benefit from a surface clean. Sold with a plaster gilt frame, in good condition. AF*
