Description

  • The Adoration of the Magi
  • oil on panel, made up in the upper corners, in a carved gilt wood frame

Condition

The support consists of two vertical panels held together by a piece of canvas. The upper corners consist of two separate panels which joined to the main panels by a horizontal batten along the upper edge. All these joins are visible from the front of the painting.The paint surface is largely secure with some scattered areas of paint loss and frame abrasion along the edges. The paint is under a discoloured varnish and there are some areas of abrasion. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the varnish although some retouchings are visible to the naked eye. Offered in a carved wood painted frame which has suffered from some knocks and paint losses.
