Description

  • study of an old man
  • oil on canvas, unframed

Condition

The canvas has quite a recent relining. The paint surface is generally in good condition. There are some discoloured retouchings which run mostly along the lower edge in the figure's robe. There is some paint loss centre right and lower right. There is a restored vertical tear of 4 cm centre left but this does not affect the figure's head. There is a very thin vertical surface scratch of approximately 10 cn to the left of the man's ear. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals further scattered retouchings and strengthenings. Offered unframed.
