  • A village scene with a woman washing at a fountain
  • inscribed on the reverse: Vue de la fontaine de Chantilly/ offered to The Revd Dr Clutton by Lord Dulsford(?)
    and stamped on the reverse with the canvas maker's mark of Alphonse Giroux
  • oil on canvas, unlined 

Condition

The painting is richer and lighter in tone than the catalogue illustration. The canvas is unlined and does not appear to have suffered any major damages. The paint surface, which has been recently cleaned and varnished, is in very good condition. Offered in a plaster gilt wood frame in fair condition with chips and losses.
