Condition
The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is generally secure, if somewhat abraded, apart from two very small areas of paint loss, the first below the sitter's chin and the second on her right elbow. There is some minor frame abrasion to the lower edge of the canvas. Scattered retouchings are visible to the naked eye throughout, in particular to the sitter's hands, face, bonnet and her left sleeve and these are confirmed when the painting is inspected under UV light. The painting is offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in fair condition with some minor knocks and paint losses.
