- Portrait of a bearded gentleman, head and shoulders, wearing black with a white ruff
- oil on paper, laid on panel
Condition
The single panel on which the paper is laid is flat, uncradled and bevelled on along all four edges. The paper is overall kept flat by the panel but is starting to come away from the panel at the upper centre. The paint surface is considerably abraded and is subsequently is substantially retouched throughout. Despite the thick yellowing varnish, many of the later retouchings flouresce under UV light. Offered in a carved and painted wooden frame.
