The canvas has been relined. The painting has been recently cleaned and the paint surface is in good condition with no significant losses or damages although the paint has thinned in some of the background areas. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals extensive retouchings to all the major details of the animal. The lot is offered in an early 19th century plaster gilt frame.
