Description

  • Gabriel Allegrain
  • The Finding of Moses
  • oil on canvas, in a French carved wood frame

Condition

The canvas has a fairly taut relining. The paint surface is generally secure with a few scattered infilled paint losses. In several areas the paint has thinned and has subsequently been retouched, particularly the foliage and along the outer edges. Inspection under UV light confirms these retouchings and highlights a discoloured area of retouching to the left of the base of the monument. Offered in an elaborately carved wood frame with some knocks.
