Description

  • A wooded clearing with dogs, a rifle, a dead hare, duck and various songbirds;A woodland scene with hounds chasing rabbits

Condition

Both canvases have been relined. The surface of both paintings is gereally secure, although there are minor scattered paint losses, particularly to the secong painting which also has a small area of scratched paint loss to the centre of the upper edge. The latter painting is also somewhat more abraded than the former. Both works have scattered retouchings throughout, visible to the naked eye. The varnish prevents thorough inspection under UV light. Offered in carved and painted wooden frames with several knocks and paint losses.
