  • The pietà
  • oil on canvas, unlined, in a painted oval

Condition

The canvas is unlined. Although the paint surface is secure, there is sunbstantial abrasion, particularly to the upper right. The fine craquelure throughout is stabilised by the varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals some retouchings above the thick yellow varnish, particluarly to Christ's head and the abraded area upper right.
