Description
- A nocturnal landscape with three figures sleeping beside a fire
- oil on canvas, unlined, unframed
Condition
The canvas is unlined. There is a horizontal seam running across the length of the canvas approximately 50 cm. from the lower edge and this appears to be the original canvas join. This seam is visible on the front of the canvas. The paint surface is largely secure although somewhat worn and there are scattered areas of paint loss which have been restored. There are several small holes along the right hand edge and there is a horizontal tear of approximately 6 cm in the lower right corner. Inspection under UV light reveals some retouchings throughout and strengthening to the outlines of the figures. The lot if offered unframed.
