Description

  • An extensive Neapolitan coastal landscape with Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius in the distance to the North, travellers resting in the foreground
  • oil on canvas, unlined

Condition

The canvas is unlined but has remained much of its tension. The paint surface, however, is somewhat rubbed in the sky . Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals minor strengthenings in the foreground but some more extensive retouchings to the sky, some of which are discoloured. The lot is offered in a later gilt wood frame.
