Provenance

Anonymous sale, London, Sotheby's, 13 November 1996, lot 126, where acquired by the present owner.

Condition

The canvas has been lined. There are no apparent tears or damages. Investigation under ultraviolet light reveals a thick varnish which obscures a clear reading. However, there is evidence of retouching in the sky as well as isolated touches of repaint in the foliage. The picture is held in a gilt wood frame.
