Description

  • Joos van Craesbeeck
  • An interior with a peasant woman sleeping at a table; An interior with a peasant man holding a comb
  • a pair, both oil on panel

Condition

Both lots are painted on single oak panels. The paint surface is secure but there is some frame abrasion, especially to the lower edges. There is a thin vertical crack of approximately 11 cm to the upper left of the latter picture. There appears to be scattered strengthenings to both pictures but the thick masking varnish prevents further analysis of these under ultraviolet light. The lots are offered in gilt wood and plaster frames with some knocks and losses.
