Emilian School, first half of the 17th Century

Whilst demonstrating the influence of Guercino's early works the palette and facial types of the figures point to other Emilian artists such as Giovanni Lanfranco and Sisto Badalocchio. An attribution to Leonello Spada (1576-1622) has been proposed on the basis of photographs by Dott. Emilio Negro who believes the present work to be a product of the artist's late maturity.
