"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. Possibly unlined. The paint surface is unstable in some areas and there appears to be some significant paint loss and hence restoration to sky , upper left and right. The dark ochre ground is visible through the thin paint layer, in the foreground, and evidence of previous restoration to reduce this is evident. Further paint loss, restored, lower left and right."
