Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The soft wood panel has a horizontal tapering batten support. There has been some previous worm damage to the reverse, restored. There is a 20cm split upper right which has been restored but is unstable . the paint surface is sound. Under U-V light a small scattering of retouchings can be seen in the dark background and the face of the sitter a result of worm damage . Removal of the discoloured varnish would lead to tonal enhancement."
