"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined, there is a patched damage lower left. There is a horizontal canvas seam along the bottom, retouched. The paint layer is raised and unstable. There is discoloured retouching to paint loss in the sky and to the shadow of the water , lower left. The varnish is discoloured and tonal improvement would occur if this were removed."
