"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The original canvas is lined and the paint layer is stable. A slightly raised horizontal and vertical stretcher mark is visible. The surface is significantly abraded and thus extensively retouched, particularly to the background and the darker passages. These retouchings are visible under U-V light."
