Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel is in good condition. The paint layer is stable . There is an area of slightly raised paint in the foreground. The sky has been extensively over painted to reduce the wood grain and the yellowing effect of the ground showing through the thin paint layer. A thin paint layer and a fine filigree of pale cracking has been reduced in the mid and fore grounds. There has been some minor paint loss along the raised wood grain ridges. Tonal improvement with the removal of the discoloured varnish."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
