Condition

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. There is an old lining canvas in place. The paint layer is raised but stable. Across the sky are a dense scattering of pin-prick losses and also evidence of abrasion. A figure on the bridge has been retouched out . There are minor paint losses to the foreground and a fine filigree of pale craquelure in the darker passages where the paint layer has shrunk and the ground colour has been revealed. A patchy discoloured varnish remains."
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
