Hendrik Frans van Lint, called Lo Studio Antwerp 1684 - 1763 Rome

The painting is slightly yellower and less red than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an old relining which still holds well. The painting has not been touched for some time and the varnish is slightly discoloured. The paint surface is in excellent condition with details such as the watermill and stream in the background being beautifully preserved. Some minor discoloured retouchings occur in the tree's foliage in the upper right corner, along the extreme lower edge and in the lower right corner (where there is also a small loss), but on the whole the painting is in lovely fresh condition. The later gilt wood and plaster frame has some minor chips and cracks along the outer edge and the gilding is coming off in places, but is structurally sound.
