Condition

The colours are richer in tone than as shown in the catalogue illustration. The canvas has been recently relined and the painting cleaned, restored and re-varnished. the paint surface is in overall good condition, the imapsto of the highlights being extremely well preserved. There is a vertical seam that runs down through the left hand side of the bouquet. On the vase, in the shadows, the paint is rather worn. There are some small restored damages and retouchings to the right side of the vase. There is some strengthening to the darks upper right and inspection ultra-violet light reveals some retouching to the foliage in between the flowers and scattered throughout the background. The painting has, in general, survived well. Sold unframed.
