Condition

The original is cooler in tone than as shown in the catalogue illustration. The support consists of a single, flat oak panel which is cradled on the reverse. The painting has been recently cleaned, restored and re-varnished and the paint surface is in good overall condition. There is a restored horizontal surface crack through the centre of the composition. Directly above the cart is a small restored paint loss and there are some retouchings in the blue of the sky. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some minor retouching in the foliage at the right. Overall this painting is well preserved. Sold with an ebonised frame, in good condition. AF*
