The actual painting is slightly warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is flat and stable and bevelled on all sides. A few very tiny dents are visible along the right edge and in the lower right corner. There's a very thin diagonal surface scratch in the upper right corner. Some other small retouchings, e.g. just below the upper edge, in the woman's green cloth and there's minor strengthening in the man's hat and costume, in the door in the background, and in the legs of the chair. The paint surface is under a dull layer of varnish, which obscures inspection under ultra violet light completely. Offered in a large decorative carved gilt wood frame with a few paint losses, but otherwise in good condition. (MW)
