Catalogue Note

'James Dean is not our hero because he was perfect, but because he so perfectly represented the damaged but beautiful soul of his time'.  Andy Warhol cited in Interview Magazine, New York

This Japanese film poster for Rebel without a Cause starring James Dean includes the original advertisement that Warhol transformed into a Pop work with a strong cross cultural intent. The theme of advertising captures Warhol's lifelong interest in merging art and business.
