Catalogue Note
The artist is unrecorded, but the similarity in style and in presentation of the subject is very similar to that of Nicolas Huet (see lots 78-9), suggesting that Prévost worked with him recording animals in the Royal menagerie. Another watercolor by him, of two vultures, was in the collection of Marcel Jeanson, sale, London, Sotheby's, 13 December 1996, lot 138.
