Catalogue Note
Francesca Baldassari associates this drawing with a painting of a somewhat similar subject in the Gallerie Fiorentine, Florence (fig. 1). There are significant differences in the composition, and in fact this drawing is far closer to one sold in London, Sotheby's, 2 July 1984, lot 75 and somewhat to one in the Uffizi.1 In format it is closer to one of four pastoral scenes she illustrates as fig. 80. The technique is very characteristic of Ferretti's draughtsmanship.
